Ada Tinney
Ada Tinney's Glass House is where she has a home studio and does commission work of stained glass windows, lamps, panels, and suncatchers.
She teaches adults through Loyalist College classes, and privately this year in hand drum making, and in stained glass since 1988, also selling glass and supplies. For several years she has taught at Camp Ponacka at Baptiste Lake for two days each summer, where the boys are very enthusiastic students.
In the last few years stone and wood carving have been a new experience. West coast style totem poles and masks as well as walking sticks and busts have been done.
Native hand drums made by local cedar hoops covered with rawhide have been the latest creation. The skin is painted before it dries to make permanent painting or design on it. A very successful and creative class of eight people make their drums this spring.
The Art Gallery Gift Shop at the old railway station is where the stained glass is shown. Native hand drums are at Woodbugs and Guitar Nuts on Hastings St. N. |
