Artist Profile

Amy Keller

Amy Keller is a young and upcoming wildlife artist who resides in Denbigh, Ontario, a small town located in Ontario. Amy’s love for wildlife art began when she was only ten years of age, inspired by her uncle who also has a great love for painting. Quickly he became the role model who Amy someday aspired to be. The first drawing that Amy did at the age of seven, showed two bull moose bunting heads with one and other; it was from this moment that she would begin to practice and perfect the talent that she possess today.

For Amy, inspiration and motivation not only stemmed from a love for painting and a natural talent, but also from the area in which she lives. She is constantly surrounded by rugged countryside and the animals which inhabit the land. She paints what she knows, what she sees, whether it be a wolf howling at the moon or a bear fishing in a
creek, you can bet that she has experienced it first hand. Together all of these things have driven Amy to pursue her dream of becoming a wildlife artist.

Although Amy’s younger years were spent doing mainly pencil sketches and watercolor paintings, she would soon progress to acrylic painting, which is her main choice of medium today. During high school she spent many summers painting murals depicting historical events in a number of small communities around Denbigh. After finishing high school Amy attended Sir Sanford Fleming in the Fine Arts Program. Upon completion, Amy once again returned to the place that she loves and since then, has spent much of her time creating original pieces and developing a presence in the local art community. Today Amy’s pieces portray a great amount of beauty, emotion and sole, which can be seen through the eyes of the animals she paints.

Amy’s future as a wild life artist appears bright; her talent and love for what she does comes naturally, but most importantly she has a desire to share her talents with others who hold the same appreciation for the things she loves in life.
