Margaret Forde
Margaret grew up in teh rural community of Indian River, Ontario. Painter/teacher, Neil Broadfoot taught her for three years in her Peterborough highschool. She spent an eight-year career as an audio/visual technician after graduation from Sir Sanford Fleming College. Margaret started taking some night school painting classes and a few weekend workshops, which lead to fifteen years of independent study in the visual arts (mostly painting).
Margaret is a member of the East Central Ontario Art Association and presently hold the position of secretary and has been a member since 1986 and area representative since 1993. She has been a member of the Algonquin Arts Council and Art Gallery of Bancroft since 1992 and a volunteer for six years.
She was the owner and operator of a retail art supply store, The Art Stope from April 1995 to Septemeber 2001. She was the 'Artist in Residence' for the summers of 1993 and 1994 at Bon Echo Provincial Park.
Margaret was also an Art Instructor for many years in Basic Watercolour and children's art programs with Loyalist College, Art Gallery of Bancroft, Peterborough Centennial Museum, Public Libraries, and in elemantary schools.
Margaret Forde participates in Annual juried shows for E.C.O.A.A., Art Gallery of Bancroft, Bancroft and Area Studio Tour, Bon Echo, Algonquin, and Silent Lake Provincial Parks, Ottawa Art Festival, Two person show "Anchors and Oceans" at Art Gallery of Bancroft with Anita Murphy in September 2001, Solo show 'Past Rural Routes' at the Art Gallery of Bancroft in February 1993.
